Congratulations to Ben Metcalf, New Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing at HUD

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 5, 2013—Ben Metcalf, a former Project Manager for BRIDGE Housing, has been appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing Programs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), effective August 5.

Ben joined BRIDGE in 2004 under a two-year fellowship honoring the entrepreneurial spirit of BRIDGE founder Don Terner. When the fellowship ended, BRIDGE hired Ben as a Project Manager, where he oversaw the development of a number of high-profile, award-winning projects. Among them: Ironhorse at Central Station, the affordable component of a major land-use effort in West Oakland; Trestle Glen, a transit-oriented, family property with a child care center in San Mateo County; and Alta Torre, an affordable senior community in a masterplanned, mixed-use development in Palo Alto.

In January 2010, through a special program under which he remained a BRIDGE employee, Ben was assigned to serve as Senior Advisor to then Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing Programs Carol Galante (former BRIDGE President & CEO and current Federal Housing Administration Commissioner and Assistant Secretary for Housing at HUD).

“We’re thrilled to congratulate Ben on his recent appointment,” said Cynthia A. Parker, BRIDGE President & CEO. “His accomplishments speak for themselves—he brings a great deal of talent, experience and commitment to the table.”
