BRIDGE, alongside the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles and other partners, is helping to transform Jordan Downs, a historic public housing project in South L.A.’s Watts neighborhood, into a model mixed-income urban village. Our latest phase of the $1 billion redevelopment project entails building 119 apartments – 107 of them affordable – and landscaped open spaces as part of a reimagined 21-acre site with 1,400 units, parks, community facilities, restaurants and retail. By building new homes before demolishing current units, we are not displacing current residents – many of whom have been hired as construction workers, among other jobs. The largest urban revitalization project in L.A., Jordan Downs represents a model for the holistic transformation of public housing.
