In 2012, the team of The Michaels Organization and BRIDGE Housing was selected as Master Developer of Jordan Downs. Earlier, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, in conjunction with residents and a broad spectrum of stakeholders, initiated a plan to rebuild Jordan Downs into a mixed-use, mixed-income community.
The multi-phase effort calls for one-to-one replacement of the existing 700 public housing apartments and the addition of up to 1,400 affordable and market-rate homes, along with much needed neighborhood-serving retail, community centers and parks. BRIDGE and The Michaels Organization will also develop a comprehensive Human Capital Plan to provide family support, job training, and community programs for residents to move toward self-sufficiency.

Los Angeles City Councilman Joe Buscaino said, "This will be a long-lasting legacy that will live for generations in Watts, and is the first step toward improving the quality of life for all families living at Jordan Downs, where improvements have been desperately needed for a long time."
The design of the Century Boulevard extension is under way and the development team is moving forward with securing funding commitments that would enable a first phase of housing to become a reality.
