The Abigail will bring 142 new homes to the northern end of the Pearl District. The building will be mixed-income, with 123 affordable apartments for families earning 30% to 60% of Median Family Income (currently $20,800 to $41,640 for a household of four) and the balance at market-rate rents.
The six-story building is being designed by Ankrom Moisan Architects, one of Portland’s top design firms. The ground floor will offer a welcoming lobby accessed from NW 13th Avenue, commercial space and a community room for residents.
Amenities include landscaped courtyards with community gardens and a children’s play area, laundry rooms on each floor, secure bicycle parking in a tool-equipped bike storage room, and underground car parking. Additional space for resident programs is under consideration, and BRIDGE will work with educational and social services partner Impact NW to create programming that will best serve the residents.
The Abigail is named for Abigail Scott Duniway, a Portland activist who was instrumental in gaining voting rights for women in the State of Oregon in 1912.
